We knew on the front end that Gatlinburg would be a somewhat controversial choice for a convention location, and the evaluations certainly reflected this. Some sponsors absolutely loved the proximity to hotels, restaurants, and attractions, but others objected to the travel distance, the expense, and the number of distractions for students.

Of course, every potential convention site is going to have its advantages and disadvantages, but all things considered, I think that Gatlinburg offers more pros than cons. And let me add that, from an administrative / organizational perspective, having this event at a convention center is MUCH easier and better than having it on a high school or college campus. No question about it. (Even though the GCC did drop the ball on a couple of things.)

If you have any other concerns or suggestions, please feel free to send them in. We'll discuss everything at our board meeting in September.

What should be the policy on Roman costume for Friday morning?

Strongly Encouraged 80% Completely Optional 20%

Which would you prefer to have during the Friday morning assembly?

Keynote Address 56% Roll Call 44%

Which would you prefer to have on Friday night?

Talent Show 75% Dance 25% (Because people hate to chaperone the dance, I assume?)

Should TJCL return to Gatlinburg again?

Yes 53% No 29% Mixed feelings 18 %

Overall, the convention was well-organized, and it was a good experience for teachers and students alike.

Yes 94% No 0% Mixed feelings 6%
