2010 State Convention Evaluation Summary

|

We knew on the front end that Gatlinburg would be a somewhat controversial choice for a convention location, and the evaluations certainly reflected this.  Some sponsors absolutely loved the proximity to hotels, restaurants, and attractions, but others objected to the travel distance, the expense, and the number of distractions for students.

Of course, every potential convention site is going to have its advantages and disadvantages, but all things considered, I think that Gatlinburg offers more pros than cons.  And let me add that, from an administrative / organizational perspective, having this event at a convention center is MUCH easier and better than having it on a high school or college campus.  No question about it.  (Even though the GCC did drop the ball on a couple of things.)

If you have any other concerns or suggestions, please feel free to send them in.  We'll discuss everything at our board meeting in September.
