2010 State Convention
2010 TJCL State Convention
Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10, 2010
Convention Site:
Gatlinburg Convention Center -- Downtown Gatlinburg, TN
It's located on the corner of Gatlinburg Parkway (aka the Gatlinburg Strip) and Historic Nature Trail (aka Airport Road), right across the street from the Gatlinburg Space Needle.
Convention Center Floor Plan -- TJCL will have everything in the Mills Conference Center except for the Executive Board Room and everything on the Upper Level except for Room 4 and the Parkway Tower. TJCL will NOT have access to the Lower Level facilities.
Driving Directions:
When driving into Gatlinburg, you will want to avoid the traffic in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge as much as possible. Here are some suggested alternate routes. Once you get through the traffic and arrive in downtown Gatlinburg, though, everything will be within easy walking distance.
Parking:
There is NO parking available at the convention center itself.
There are, however, various parking lots and garages located throughout the downtown Gatlinburg area. Click here for a map of these facilities. TJCL has not made specific parking arrangements with any of these facilities, so you're on your own.
Ideally, everyone from out of town will stay at the Edgewater, the Glenstone, or the Garden Plaza (see details below). Busses can remain parked at the hotels, and the students can just walk on over to the convention center. If you prefer to have your bus drop your students off, there is a bus loading / unloading zone on the Airport Road side of the convention center. This is NOT meant to be a parking area, though.

Partner Hotels:
We need all of our chapters to use these hotels. The GCC is a very expensive facility, and the only way to make it affordable is to take advantage of the rebates these hotels are offering. Please be sure to mention TJCL when making your reservations. Thanks!
Edgewater Hotel (100 rooms blocked at $119.00 per night; 0.4 miles from GCC)
Garden Plaza Hotel (100 rooms blocked at $95.99 per night; 0.4 miles from GCC)
Glenstone Lodge (150 rooms blocked at $95.00 per night; 0.3 miles from GCC)
Days Inn on the River (Rocky Waters) (20 rooms blocked; 1.0 miles from GCC)
Since most schools will be staying at the Edgewater, Garden Plaza, or Glenstone, TJCL is implementing an 11:00 PM curfew at these hotels for both Thursday and Friday nights. ("Curfew" meaning, of course, that the students should be in their own assigned rooms for good, not loitering in the hotel lobby or wandering around the halls.) For the safety of all TJCL students, and for the sanity of all TJCL sponsors, please help enforce this curfew over your own students.

Food:
No food or drinks may be brought into the convention center from the outside. There will be, however, a concession stand available inside the convention center on both Friday and Saturday. Of course, there will also be a hospitality room open to sponsors and chaperones (Friday only).
