The preparation is very time-consuming in that there are thirty practice rounds to prepare for the local contest. Two teams of four students will be chosen based on scores from the practice rounds and the scores from our school competition. These eight students will compete at our regional individually and one of the teams will compete as a team. Qualifiers will attend the state competition. Even though only eight students get to travel to the district contest, the practice rounds will improve every student’s ability to solve mathematical problems. Problem solving will become easier throughout the year. All participants in the local contest receive certificates and the two teams of four will receive ribbons.
