"Pardon My French"

|

If you order your apple pie à la mode

Or ask your teacher to go to the commode

If you've ever committed a fashion faux pas

Or your friends have a certain "Je ne sais quoi"

If you tend to abide by proper etiquette

Or you've purchased a bottle of eau de toilette

If you like to hang out with your entourage

Or you want to go into foreign espionage

If you've ever bought tickets to a movie's debut

Or, from time to time, experience déjà vu

If your mother likes the smell of pot-pourri

Or if you've ever been asked to R.S.V.P.

If, at a café

    You order an entrée

And in lieu of a filet

            You get a parfait

Then, don't you know

 That's quite à propos!

For Although you don't know it

 You indeed, like this poet,

Should go out of your way

 and learn when to say

 "Pardon my French"
