US Read for Fun Book Club

|

We have a long list of members for this group, and our first meeting was Monday, Sept. 20.  Maze Runner by James Dashner was selected for October, and I've been told it's hard to put down once you start it.  We have three copies now and it's available from other libraries, bookstores, and e-book sources.  Have fun with it--we'll meet again on October 27 (we'll try for the 4th Wednesday of each month).  If you want me to order pizza, let me know!

Actually--let's change that date to Wednesday, Nov. 3.  If that doesn't work please let me know by email!  P.S. The sequel, The Scorch Trials, is out and in a lot of demand.  It's a good time to talk about the first volume if you are ready to read the second one (or not).

Guys Read Book Club! LS Group

|
The book clubs are off and running and lots of guys have signed up.  The Lower School Guys Read book club started at lunch on Friday, September 17.  We nominated a lot of books, and after a couple of runoffs, finally selected two books that tied.  First we'll read The Merchant of Death (first book in the Pendragon series) by D. J. MacHale.  We'll meet on Friday, October 15 during lunch to talk about it.  The next month we'll read Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz and meet on November 19 during lunch.  There was strong interest expressed in our ordering pizza, so I'll do that for the October meeting.  I'm thinking about getting one or both books on my iPod Touch.  We have three copies of each book in the library.  If you've already read either book, try reading the next in the series--they're all good.
