Junior English Review 1^st Semester

Course Objectives:

I. Grammar – Review, practice, and testing of basic grammar, such as agreement, case, parallel structure, misplaced and dangling modifiers, punctuation, and commonly confused words.

II. Vocabulary – 84 lessons, totaling more than 1,000 in the semester. Tests will be given on Mondays, and the words are on the final exam in December.

III. Reading Comprehension – Analysis of longer passages (selected by the teacher), as well as shorter passages (in vocabulary book).

IV. Writing – Weekly writing assignments geared towards preparation for the SAT writing section (persuasive argument), as well as college admissions essays.

V. PSAT/SAT/ACT Preparation – Students will prepare for the verbal sections of the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
