Laptop - Synchronize Files for Offline Use

Synchronization of files is helpful if you take your laptop home and would like to automatically synchronize files with your network account.

When you log off of the network, files are kept in a special Offline Files folder on your computer. Use the following procedure to designate which files are to be available offline.

For All Files

1. Click on the Start button and go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options (under Appearance and
    Themes in Classic View
2. Choose the Offline Files tab and select Enable Offline Files
3. Choose Synchronize all offline files when logging off and when logging on.

This will synchronize all of your files/folders to an offline folder on your laptop. It will be updated any time that you log off of (or onto) the network. Note that it will take awhile the first time, depending on how many files you have. In future logoffs, only new and changed files will be updated, which should shorten the synchronization time.

Offline folders will have a double blue arrow to designate that they will be synchronized.  (Like the Temp folder in the image to the right)

To remove the offline status, right-click the folder and click Make Available Offline to deselect it.
