Lost an Attached Document?

Caution - Where is it Saved?

Many of you email documents from home to school (or visa versa).

What you should do

File, Save As, My Documents

After you have made changes or additions to your document use File, Save As and select My Documents. You will not have any problem accessing or finding the document later.

or

You can save the document in email, but you must also save the email that it is attached to. When you close the email, you will be asked if you want to save changes made to the email. Click Yes.

What you often do, that causes problems

Click the Save button (or Save under the File menu) and do not save the email changes too.

That results in  the document being saved in a temporary folder that can only be accessed at the very machine you saved it on for a limited time. You will need to get assistance from someone in IT if you have already done that and logged off.
