Word Document Prepared for Web

You can drag a Word document into your FrontPage folder (or Copy and Paste it) and link to it as you would any other web page.

Since everyone does not have Microsoft Word on his machine, you will usually want to save the document in htm (web page) format.  Open the Word document and choose File, Save As Web Page. Note the location you have saved it to (Desktop is convenient)

Tables to Constrain the Width

You do not have to use tables to save a Word document for the web. I like to use them to constrain the width of the text on the web page.

Open the Word doc

Select all text   (Edit, Select All or Ctrl +A)

Cut all text       (Edit, Cut or Ctrl +X)

Put in a table   (Table menu, Insert a 1x1 table)

Paste text        (Edit, Paste or Ctrl +V)

Eliminate Borders on the Table

Click the arrow to the right of the borders button and select no border.

To Center Table

If you want the table centered,

click Table (in the menu), Table Properties and Center.

Save As Web Page and move the new document into your FrontPage folder.

Moving the Document into your Web Folder

Have FrontPage and your web folder open. Locate the document that you saved in the steps above. Right-click it and choose Copy. In FrontPage click the top folder in your Folder list and choose paste.

You can now add a link to the document.

PDF Creator

Alternatively, you can save your Word document in pdf format. PDF Creator is free software that will allow you to do that.
