Automatic Numbers | Equation Editor
Trouble With Outline Numbers (Automatic Numbered Lists) To Turn Off Automatic Numbers If you cannot make the Automatic Numbers work the way you want in Microsoft Word, you can turn off that option. Go to File, Options, Proofing, AutoCorrect Options and choose the AutoFormat As You Type tab. To remove the checkmark next to Automatic bulleted lists, click it. Then click OK.

Change the Format of Automatic Numbers
Select the bulleted or numbered list in your Word document. Click the arrow to the right of the bullet (numbers) button and make your choices. If the Wrong Letter or Number Appears
Use the Increase Indent button
When you want to
return to a higher level, use the Decrease Indent button
If the Spacing is not what you need First try using the Decrease Indent button
If that does not work satisfactorily, click Undo and adjust the slides on the Ruler by clicking and dragging.

Equation Editor in Microsoft Word If you want fancier fractions than 1/2 or more involved equations than x+y=3, you may want to try Equation Editor. Place your cursor where you want the equation or expression. Go to the Insert tab, Symbols group and click Equation. You will get a new Equation Tools tab that has all the formats of equations. Choose your format and use the keyboard arrow keys to move around in your equation.
