Scanning Pictures (Scanning documents below) In the next screen (below) you can change settings like dpi (Scan Picture Settings) If you have accepted all the settings, your document will go in a folder called My Scans that has automatically been created in My Documents. Resolution (Menu – Tools) This depends on what you want to do with it.
Resize (Menu – Tools) Adjust the size to what you want for the end-product. Save As file format
It depends on what you plan to do with your scanned item. Quality - For some medium quality is sufficient. If you need to show faces clearly, you may need to use a higher quality. Remember that if you are unsure of the use, you can save your image in the bmp format and later convert a copy to jpg Scanning Color, but Not a Photo (like newsprint) You would probably want to use 256 colors, and save as a gif file (file size is about ½ of bmp) Descreen (Menu – Advanced) If the source came from a newspaper, annual photo, or magazine it may have been screened. If so, choose Advanced and Descreen. Newspaper Example -chose grayscale; saved as a bmp since it was for the archives; put a heavier paper on top of it to help with text bleeding through from the other side; descreened. _____________________ Select Document and in the Scan to box, pick Microsoft Word. You will be able to edit text in Word.
