Recent Documents List  Microsoft Word

Rutledge

You probably find it handy to use the recently used documents list at the bottom of the File menu in Microsoft Word. By default it shows the names of the last four documents you have worked on. It provides you a direct link so that you don’t have to poke around to find one of your recently used documents.

Did you know that you can have more than four documents in that list? To do so, follow the instructions below.

  • Go to the Tools menu
  • Click Options
  • Click the General Tab
  • Find the Recently Used Files List and select up to 9 files

Note:
As you open and modify new documents, your list will grow to the number of files you selected above.  After it reaches the maximum, the oldest item will be bumped off the list as a newer one is added.
