Faculty Drop Folders

Save Your File Into Your Teacher's Folder

You cannot save directly into the Drop Folders. Use the method described below.

Step 1 - Copy your document

Complete your document and save it to My Documents.
   Close the document.
Open My Documents and right-click the document you need to send to your teacher.
   Click Copy.

Step 2 - Go to your teacher's drop folder

   Open My Computer.

   Choose Students on 'Titan' (X)

Then choose Drop Folders.

In the next Window that opens double-click on your teacher's name

Step 3 - Paste the File

Right-click the appropriate period and choose Paste.

You will not be able to open the Period Folders due to permission restrictions.

If you want reassurance that your document has been transferred correctly, repeat the steps above to paste your document into the same folder a 2nd time. You will get a message that states the document already exists.

Important - read about naming conventions below to make sure this works correctly because these folders are set up to not overwrite a document with the same name.

Important Notes

Naming Your File

You must name your file so that the teacher can identify it as yours. Check with your teacher, but here is a suggestion.
If you are turning a document in on the Crucible and your name is Carl Jones, you could name it
CJones Crucible1.doc

If some other student names the document crucible.doc and you also name it crucible.doc, you will not be able to paste your document into the teachers folder. You should include your name as part of the document name to prevent problems.

Getting Your Document Back - You can't

Once you drop your file into the teacher's folder, you can not delete or change it. However, you can put a new document in there with a slightly different name. The best plan is to be sure you are through before you drop the file.

Alternate Method - Drag and Drop
You will open the teacher's Drop Folder the way indicated above.

Resize the Window with the Teacher's Folder

Drag the folder to one side of the screen.

Get the Folder With Your Files in View

Open My Documents on your desktop. Resize the screen and rearrange the Windows so that you can see your file and your teacher's drop folder.

Move files into the Folder

The easiest way is to Click and Drag.

Click on the file you wish to move and drag it to the folder and release the mouse button. In the example on the right, the document is being dragged into the General folder.
