A. Verbs: Learn these principal parts and meanings: commoveo,
commovēre, commovi,
commotus - to move, upset eicio, eicere,
eieci, eiectus - to throw
out opprimo,
opprimere, oppressi, oppressus to overhwlem quaero,
quaerere, quaesivi, quaesitus - to seek, look for, ask, ask for B. Active Voice: When a verb is in the active voice, the subject is doing something. ex. The slave is carrying the water. Servus aquam portat. (All of the verb forms we have learned so far this year have been in the active voice.)
C. Passive Voice: When a verb is in the passive voice, the subject is being acted upon. (Something is happening to the subject.) ex. The slave is (being) killed by the soldier. Servus a milite necatur. Ablative of (Personal) Agent = by a person (a, ab + ablative) The ablative of (personal) agent is often used with the passive voice. ex. The slave is (being) killed by the
