A.  Nouns:  Declensions

1.  The term declension simply refers to the different sets of endings used on nouns.  One set of endings will be used for -a words like puella, one for -us words like servus, and another for ? words like vox, arbor, pater, etc.

 

2.  The term decline means put on endings like nominative or accusative on a Latin word:

                                                puella              puellae

                                                puellam           puellas

3.  So far we have learned endings for nouns of the

            1st delension                 puella

            2nd declension  servus  (puer, vir)

            3rd declension              vox, arbor, clamor, fragor, pater, mater, princeps, urbs

B.  Adjectives Review

            Remember that adjectives so far can have only 1st (-a) and 2nd (-us) declension endings.

C.  Verb Review

            1.  Be sure you know these verbs and verb endings.

                        o = I                             clamo              I shout

                        s = you                         clamas             you shout

                        t = he/she/it                  clamat             he, she, it shouts

                        nt = they                      clamant           they shout

                        re = infinitive                clamare           to shout

            2.  Know this irregular verb:

                        sum                 I am

                        es                    you are

                        est                   he, she, it is

                        sunt                 they are
