Timeline Project – Guidelines

 

Welcome to the Timeline Project! You and your colleague(s) are to prepare an Excel timeline and a PowerPoint lecture covering both biblical and world history events/international cultural developments to ensure a proper framework for and a deeper appreciation of New Testament History.

 

Begin with the year 1000 B.C. to your left of your page and continue the timeline to the right in 100-year increments, beginning 25-year increments at 200 B.C. up to the year 100 A.D. (See classroom displays and my faculty web page for a sample format). Use your space wisely and create a readable document. Clutter that is indecipherable will count against you. (1) Historical content, (2) visual artistry, and (3) creative presentation (whatever that means) is your goal. Grade is equivalent to one Test.

Hard Copy Information

 

 

Hard Copy Due Dates:             NT 1 – 1st  Period on Tuesday, October 9, 2007

NT 2 – 2nd Period on Tuesday, October 9, 2007

 

Hard Copy Requirements:     Your Group must turn in a hard copy of your timeline.

1)      You must use Excel for this part of your project. (See Mrs. Rutledge’s Web Page)

2)   I suggest you laminate your hard copy so it can be rolled up. (I need to be able to carry them)

2)      Your Group’s Name must be on the Timeline

3)      The names of the individuals must be on the Timeline

4)     YOU MUST TURN IN A BIBLIOGRAPHY! (Paste on the back of your Timeline)

Creative Presentation Information

 

 

Creative Presentation Due Dates:

                                                            NT 1 – 1st  Period Thursday, October 4th 

NT 2 – 2nd Period Thursday, October 4th 

 

Creative Presentation Requirements:

Make sure each slide deals with the three main categories of the New Testament Historical Context! Appoint one member from each team to be incharge of one of the three main catagories. You must turn your PowerPoint presentation into my faculty drop folder. Also bring a copy on CD or USB drive. You may not make any changes to your PowerPoint after the due date.

 

            1)   You have 3 minutes to setup your presentation (Pre-Game Warm up)

(Props, Computer, Projectors, Video, Costumes, etc…)

            2)   Your group will have 12 minutes to present your project (Total Game Time)

                        (Give a brief history of your team no more than 1 minute long)

            3)   Your Group will have 2 minutes to breakdown and clear out for the next group.

            4)   You may be as creative as you want to be.

(Your creativity must conform with behavior befitting a gentleman.)

            5)   You are encouraged to use school technology!

                        (Computer, LCD Projector, Video Equipment, PowerPoint, etc.)

            6)   You need to make arrangements to use the school’s technology!

(We will use our classroom US 200)

            7)   You will need to learn how to use the school’s technology.

8)   Prevent Disasters! Make sure you check your equipment before class.

9)   You will need to have a BACK-UP PLAN!  

(Meaning… if the computer/ projector / VCR does not work then…

the game is still on rain or shine, so have a back-up or emergency plan.)

 

 

 

Teamwork!          You are required to work together as a team. Each team will have a “captain”. It is the captain’s duty to be the team’s leader and to communicate with the teacher about any problems, challenges, or issues his team is having.

Timeline Project, October

A. D. 2007

 

How you will be graded:

 

1.     Historical Content (50%)

A.    Complete use of Timeline Project Guidelines “skeleton” events and dates. *Note some dates missing that you will need to provide.

B.   References from the Bible, scripture citations where appropriate. No citations=bad score.

C.   Main, central events in the Middle East coupled by significant world events. You be the judge.

 

2.     Visual Artistry (30%)

A.    Clear, colorful use of images that encourage the PowerPoint presentation. Video or analogue supplements welcome, theatrical dress welcome.

B.   Organized outline, easy to follow.

C.   If you choose difficult technical applications, and they fail, you risk penalization. Be wise. Be an Owl.

 

3.     Creative Presentation (20%)

A.    Captures and hold attention

B.   Chronological clarity
