How parents can help

Be interested in your child's work.  Ask questions that require him to explain things to you.  He will appreciate your interest (although the gratitude may not be expressed) and will learn from having to verbalize the material to you.
Offer to help him study:  Listen to him practice speaking. Call out vocabulary words in Spanish or English for your child to recall.  Make sure he has the necessary materials that he needs for the course.
Help him see the relevance of Spanish in our daily lives.  Point out uses of Spanish that we see all around us on billboards, in phone books, those freebie newspapers at the grocery stores, directions to equipment you buy, food labels, television stations, radio, etc.
Assist your child in learning to manage time wisely.  One of the most important and lasting lessons that our children learn during their high school years is to use time well.  Make sure he studies well, plays hard and rests fully.
Teach your child organizational skills.  Many very capable students fail to perform as best they are able because they cannot find something. Organization is another of those skills that will make them much more productive students of any endeavor.
Call or e-mail the teacher.  If any doubt arises, please let me know.  Most teachers welcome the interest of their students' parents.
